Mit Dekret der polnischen Regierung vom 27. April wurde der “Rat zur Verhütung von Rassendiskriminierung, Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Intoleranz” aufgelöst. Die von der polnischen Ministerpräsidentin Beata Szydło vorgeschlagene Auflösung wird am 1. Juni 2016 rechtswirksam.
Der Rat war am 1. Januar 2011 während der Amtszeit von Ministerpräsident Donald Tusk (des nunmehrigen EU-Ratspräsidenten) zur “Koordinierung von staatlichen Institutionen, lokalen Behörden und anderer Einrichtungen bei der Verhütung und Bekämpfung von Diskriminierung und Intoleranz” eingerichtet worden.

Poland abolishes her anti-discrimination council
A government decree of the 27 April abolished Poland’s Council for the Prevention of Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. The council was established on January 1st, 2011, under the tenure of Prime Minister Donald Tusk of the centrist Civic Platform party, and current president of the European Council.
According to the Deputy Minister of Sport Ryszard Szuster it was “the only body providing coordination of governmental institutions, local government bodies and other entities in preventing and combating discrimination and intolerance.”
Recently, former Secretary General of NATO (1995-1999) Javier Solana declared in the Spanish daily El País that an “epidemic” of nationalism and anti-europeanism was increasing in Poland but also in Hungary and accused the Polish PiS and the Hungarian Fidesz of eroding democratic systems on the pretext of national sovereignty.
The abolition, wished by the Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, will come into effect on June 1st, 2016.
