Die portugiesische Zeitung Expresso veröffentlichte ein Interview mit Ministerpräsident Viktor Orbán, in dem er die traditionelle Ehe zwischen Mann und Frau verteidigt.
“Einen Apfel kann man nicht plötzlich als Birne bezeichnen. (…) Wenn jemand mit jemandem anderen zusammenlebt, ohne den Wunsch nach Kindern zu haben, dann entspricht dies nicht der tausend Jahre alten ungarischen Tradition der Ehe zwischen Mann und Frau. Wenn ein Mann und eine Frau zusammen leben, heiraten und Kinder haben, dann nennen wir das eine Familie. Dies ist nicht eine Frage der Menschenrechte, sondern eine Frage, den Dingen ihren richtigen Namen zu geben”, so Orbán.
Laut Orbán sei auch das Christentum eine Tradition, die man respektieren müsse, denn “ohne das Christentum hätten wir die letzten tausend Jahren nicht überlebt”. Seiner Überzeugung nach sei die Familie das Fundament der Nation und müsse deshalb geschützt werden. “Für uns ist es klar, dass nur ein Mann und eine Frau heiraten und eine Familie gründen können. Dem Bürgerlichen Gesetzbuch nach können Homosexuelle tun und lassen, was sie wollen, aber sie können jedenfalls keine Ehe eingehen, welche vom Staat anerkannt wird”.
Orbán erklärte auch, dass eine Änderung der Gesetzgebung nicht zur Debatte stehe, weil die Ungarische Verfassung gut funktioniere und sich bewährt habe.

Orbán refuses gay marriage
The Portuguese newspaper Expresso published an interview of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in which he defends traditional marriage, between a man and a woman.
“An apple cannot asked to be called a pear. (…) If a person lives together with another without wanting to have children, they do not foster the thousand-year-old Hungarian tradition of marriage between man and woman. If a man and a woman live together, marry and have children, this we call a family. This is not a question of human rights but of calling things by their name”, Orbán said.
Orbán also said that Christianity is a tradition that one must respect because “without it, we would not have survived the past thousand years”. He is clearly convinced that family is the foundation of the nation and this is why it must be protected. “We make it clear that only a man and a woman can marry and have a family”, “Under the Civic Code (…), homosexuals can do whatever they want but they cannot enter into marriage recognised by the state”.
According to Prime Minister, in Hungary, nobody wants to change the legislation, that means that the Constitution is working well.
